Hemmings Find of the Day - 1962 Plymouth Fury

Straightforward writeups are usually great for selling a car: You want to inform prospective buyers of the condition and history of the car and make sure they know what exactly it is they’re buying. However, when you have a bench-seat pushbutton-trans 318-powered four-door with some rust issues and unpolished edges, like this 1962 Plymouth Fury for sale on Hemmings.com, you gotta do something to capture the reader’s attention, and this seller’s mixture of candor and humor is a good approach. From the seller’s description:

Last driven in 2010, this 116,000 mile stylish beauty is in unrestored and not very rusty shape. Starts right up, runs nice. Engine is original and a little shop worn. Yup, pushbutton automatic transmission. I can yard drive it with no problem. Comes with genuine old car smell, the nice one, not the skunky damp one. It was in inside storage until last summer, garage was sold. All the trim is there and it’s straight. You won’t go broke trying to find obscure trim pieces. All the glass is intact. All the windows work. It has the original 318 V8, the old one that really leaked a lot of oil because of the lousy valve cover design. The oil is still all over the place, acting as a great rustproofing thing. It has some minor issues with some rocker panel rust, but it’s really in decent condition with all the panels straight.

Original AM radio. You can listen to talk shows!!! You can take it for a ride, and I guarantee you won’t come back. The master cylinder is shot, so the car won’t stop. So, you want an easy, relatively inexpensive project? Pull it apart, clean it up, and restore it stone stock or go crazy on it and do the 600 HP hemi thing. No hubcaps.
