Hemmings Find of the Day - 1968 Pontiac Bonneville

Sure, you coulda had a 428 in a car like this 1968 Pontiac Bonneville four-door hardtop for sale on Hemmings.com, but a car like this ain’t exactly built for drag racing, and the 340-hp 400 should have guts enough to move it down the road, cruising in style. Besides, what does the horsepower rating of the engine matter when the car overall looks as clean and luxuriously optioned as this? From the seller’s description:

Very Nice driving car for cruising. This car has all the options available for this year, except performance options. Even down to power vent windows, low fuel warning light, hidden headlamps, etc. I doubt you will find a more optioned car that came that way from the factory. I found build sheet under back seat and it matches options on car. It has a couple of chips and marks because I drive this car anywhere. It is a 340-hp, 400 four-barrel carb with a turbo 400 auto trans. (number matching). I did add dual exhaust that has a low rumble, 15 rims with 69 Bonneville hub caps and a Lincoln sub under rear deck so radio sound is better. Radio is stock and works great, but had no base tone. The rest is stock! Paint is 7 years old along with new top. Interior is original. Cold A/C and hot heat (new heater core). A couple of items are inop 8 track, rear defogger, cruise. It is a very nice car and has won awards at shows, but I like driving more than getting dust collectors (trophies). I simply have too many cars and need to sell a couple. Grand kids/camping taking up free time along with other cars.
