Istanbul, Turkey, 1960s
From reader Mustafa Uyal, who catches up with us via our Facebook page, comes this late 1960s photo from the roof of the Atatürk Kültür Merkezi showing the length of Taksim Square in Istanbul, Turkey, a city we’ve not gone carspotting in for a couple of years. Taksim is, of course, the site of last year’s demonstrations, and from photos of the demonstration we see that the green space and parking in the foreground has in the years since been removed. What do you see here?
