From the State Archives of North Carolina comes this postcard photo of Grandfather Mountain near Linville, North Carolina, undated, but apparently taken sometime in the mid-1950s. It appears the entrance to the tourist area’s famed suspension bridge is in the background, and the folks in the foreground are contemplating whether to cross it or just enjoy the view from where they sit.
