A 1934 Packard 1104 Super Eight dual-cowl phaeton owned by Larry and Susan Nannini of Pine Grove, California won Best of Show at the 18th annual Ironstone Concours d’Elegance, held September 27 on the grounds of the Ironstone Winery in Murphys, California. It’s been a good year on the show circuit for the Nanninis; in  addition to their Ironstone win, the couple’s Packard also placed third in the American Classic Open (Late) class at this year’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Introduced in August of 1933, the Eleventh Series Packards brought with them numerous refinements, including an oil temperature regulator, a gas tank filler hidden by the left taillamp, new bumpers and provisions for an optional, vacuum-tube radio.  Model 1104 Super Eight Packards came in eleven different body styles, all built upon a 141 and 7/8 inch wheelbase and all powered by a 384.8-cu.in. L-head inline eight-cylinder engine rated at 145 horsepower. It’s not clear how production was broken out by body style or even by series, but Packard produced a grand total of 1,920 1103, 1104 and 1105 models for 1934.
